Fleur Baert

Fleur Baert earned her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Ghent University in 2016. Her journey into research began with her master's dissertation, where she explored mindfulness-based stress reduction in breast cancer survivors at the Ghent Health Psychology lab. In January 2017, she embarked on her PhD journey under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Tine Vervoort. This research, supported by a grant from the Special Research Fund (BOF), centered around parental injustice appraisal processes in the context of their child's (chronic) pain experiences, exploring emotions, goals, and behaviors linked to such appraisals.

She successfully defended her PhD in 2021. Following this milestone, Fleur transitioned to a postdoctoral role at the Ghent Health Psychology Lab, with which she remains affiliated to this day and where she focuses on various projects centering around psychosocial factors impacting pain and healthcare. As of January 2024, she broadened her post-doctoral work and scope and joined HEALinG, allowing her to passionately further her academic interests through new and existing collaborations. These interests entail topics such as gender, sexual and racial disparity in (mental) healthcare and the workplace.

Fleur is also committed to clinical work and joined the multidisciplinary clinical practice PRAKTIJK50 as a clinical psychologist in March 2021, specializing in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and currently developing a group-based ACT intervention program.

She also brings her research experience (most notably research experience related to qualitative research methodology) into practice as a freelance research consultant, providing support for organizations (e.g., Victoria Deluxe) that aim to have impact on diverse social and societal domains including diversity and inclusion.
